The Roth DWT is actually a plastic fuel tank (similar to the gas can you use for your lawn mower) inside of a galvanized steel containment tank. If the inner tank should leak for any reason, the containment tank has the capacity to hold over 110% of the capacity of the inner tank. The inner tank is impervious to the acids that can cause a plain steel tank to corrode and start leaking. Once a plain steel tank starts to corrode there is nothing to contain the leaking fuel oil, and it will leak into the environment.

The Roth DWTs are tested and approved by UL® under SU 2258. This approval includes a fire test. The Roth DWT also complies with NFPA 31 (2001 edition) and CSA B-139-04 as a non-metallic fuel oil storage tank. Due to its construction, the Roth DWT is one of the safest and most reliable tanks on the market.

The Roth DWT can be installed inside or outside (outside with a Roth tank cover or in an enclosure) as an above ground fuel storage tank. The Roth DWT cannot be installed underground.

Roth has several kits available to make it easy to install multiple DWT in a battery for inside installations. This will allow you to have a single fill and vent line running to the outside of the house. Depending on local codes you can have up to five (5) DWT 400L, 620L or 1000L tanks or up to three (3) DWT 1500L tanks in a single location. Be sure to check local codes to know what is allowed in your area. Your tank installer should be able to help you with more information.

You can have multiple tanks installed outdoors but you must use the Roth Tank Cover for each tank. The Roth Tank Cover does not allow you to use the Roth Expansion Kits and you must have a separate fill and vent connection for each tank. It is still possible to manifold the burner fuel supply lines to draw oil from all of the tanks. Your tank installer will have additional information on this subject.

Roth recommends a concrete pad suitable to support the weight of a full tank (about 2,200 lbs or 1000 kg for the 1000L DWT) that extends at least 6" (15 cm) beyond the tank on all sides. Local codes may have additional requirements, and your installer can tell you what is needed in your area.

We require that the Roth DWT only be installed by a Roth certified installer. You cannot install the Roth DWT yourself. This requirement is also a condition of our UL¨, and installation by the homeowner is not permitted. Improper installation will also void the DWT warranty.

Roth has been selling the DWT in the US and Canada since 1998, but they have been in use in Europe for over twenty years. The Roth DWT is currently the market leader in North America for this type of fuel oil storage tank.

The Roth DWT is more expensive than a standard steel fuel oil tank, but you cannot get the features and benefits of a Roth DWT in a standard steel fuel tank. See your installer for actual pricing.

The inner plastic tank of the Roth DWT is corrosion resistant. The outer galvanized steel tank has a thirty (30) year insurance up to $2 million. A Roth DWT properly installed in an indoor location will probably be the last fuel tank you will need to purchase.

If the inner and outer tank of a Roth DWT should fail, causing an oil spill, within the warranty period due to a manufacturer’s defect, clean-up costs of up to two million dollars US ($2,000,000.00) per occurrence are covered by an insurance policy. This policy covers each tank sold in North America. The failure cannot be due to improper installation, neglect, errors caused by others, acts of God, etc. This warranty covers the tank at its original installation location only. You can’t take it with you if you move. Since the tank warranty is registered by address, it will automatically transfer to the new owner if you sell your property.

Each Roth DWT is shipped with two (2) warranty certificates. Both copies should be filled out by the installer and signed. One copy is for the owner and stays on site with the tank. The other copy is to be returned to the Roth office for registration. If a copy of the warranty form is not returned to Roth for registration, the effective date of the start of the warranty period will be the date of manufacture, so it is important to register your tank installation so you can get the full benefit of your warranty.
